Single mothers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Europe in 2016, 7.7% of women aged 25 to 49 live alone with their child(ren). Only 1.1% of fathers are single at home. In France, the proportion rises from 10.7% of single women with children to 2.5% of men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Belgium, 9.2% of single-parent households are made up of mothers and their children, compared with 1.3% of households built around fathers.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Women in leadership positions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On average in Europe only 33% of working women hold a managerial position. This rate does not exceed 50% in any country of the Union.

France and Belgium have the same average. The highest proportion of women in a position to lead teams in Europe is in Latvia (47%), followed by Poland and Slovenia (41%).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In Africa:

Access to education differs greatly from one country to another. UNESCO presents figures that show the crucial problems in the education system.

-> 28 million girls and adolescents of school age are unlikely to attend school.

-> In Mali, 92% of girls will never go to school, 3% have dropped out, and 5% will start late.

-> In Niger, there is a greater gender difference: 91% of girls will never go to school, 3% have dropped out, and 6% will start late
(compared to 83%, 4% and 12% respectively for boys).
